Puerto Rico is one of the most popular islands for bird watching in the tropical Caribbean. The island shares an area with the Virgin Islands which BirdLife International classifies as EBA-P (Primary Endemic Bird Area) because there are many birds with small distribution areas. Apart from that, BirdLife International has marked 20 areas as IBA (Important Bird and Biodiversity Area), i.e. as areas of global importance for the conservation of bird life. With some luck you can find all interesting bird species on the island within a few days.
